Italo Ferreira visits Neymar Jr. Institute on the eve of inaugurating social project

Instituto Ítalo Ferreira inaugurates this year in Baía Formosa, surfer's hometown

Brazilian surfer Ítalo Ferreira, Olympic champion of Tokyo in 2021, visited the Neymar Jr. Project Institute last Tuesday (2). At the time, he met the educational and sports work of the social project in Praia Grande, são Paulo coast.

During the morning, he strolled through the multi-sports courts and the field, where he played volleyball and soccer with the students. In the educational building, the highlight was the art class, where the children presented him with drawings of him.

"I believe that [the institute] contributes a lot to the people who are here and are part of this project, to all the children who are coming, to all the adults who have already left. This is the result of the project, it is the result of a lot of dedication, a lot of effort. All the professionals who are here are 100% for this project and, especially, Neymar."

For the Olympic medalist, encouraging sport is an important part of the role played in the lives of young people. "Sport has transformed my life. God has given me this talent and we know that not everyone wants to be a sportsman, but wants to have a chance in life. These projects give this opportunity, give this light to children, to young people, they show a better way to follow", he points out.

The Itario Ferreira Institute continues to be developed in Baía Formosa, Rio Grande do Norte, the athlete's hometown. The non-profit organization has as pillars the sport, training and sustainability directed to children, young people and adolescents in a state of vulnerability.

"My institute will open this year in Baía Formosa, where I was born and have a huge affection. It was my dream to contribute and give opportunity also to the people who live in this place and I believe it will be amazing. I hope that I can give great opportunities and that I can be part of the lives of the children and the people who will participate in this project", he says.

Registration will begin in August, and then the activities. Itario relates the opportunity to be able to build the project with the victory of the first Olympic surfing gold medal in history. "It is through this victory that I have achieved good partners, people who are really there to add and who can help with me this project and change the lives of the people who will participate."
